About UBIQ Aerospace

UBIQ Aerospace develops autonomous solutions to industry-crippling problems. Our cutting-edge, robust, safe and sustainable products ensure that next-generation aircrafts can perform critical, and potentially life-saving operations during adverse weather conditions.

We are a Trondheim-based tech startup on an ambitious growth journey. We have several large opportunities coming our way and  to ensure we are successful we need to continue to build a stellar team.

You and UBIQ

We are looking for a creative, open minded and technically strong Power Electronics Engineer to join our small Electronics department. Our electronic hardware is a crucial part of our solutions and you will help us shape work processes for electronic hardware development and testing, as well as setting up the relevant workspaces that provide us with the potential for rapid innovation. Your role is both rooted in your individual efforts as well as through interactions in the company’s highly integrated teams.

We are open to what your background specifically might look like. However, we do know that our ideal candidate is comfortable taking responsibility, is self-motivated, has a learning mindset and is adaptive to new tools and ideas. Agility, speed, and dedication characterizes our startup, and it is important for us that you can identify with this working environment. Being a genuine team player goes without saying as we are a small team that is building and developing the company together. We have a trust based, encouraging and caring team culture and support team members in their development.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Hardware ownership: Specification, design, simulation, schematics, layout supervision, prototyping, and validation.

  • Contribute in setting up a solid test environment that includes hardware-in-the-loop testing.

  • Analyze future hardware needs, shape the system architectures and help design effective solutions.

  • Thoroughly document the hardware design choices, testing procedure and results, etc.

Your background, knowledge and skills
  • Relevant education within electronics or power electronics.

  • Regardless of educational background, we look for candidates with practical electrical design experience (professional, volunteering options or personal projects).

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills while pragmatic and solution oriented.

  • Deep knowledge in end-to-end design of electrical hardware / electronics, preferably experience with PCB design.

  • Excellent understanding of electrical engineering concepts.

  • Good understanding of analog, digital and power circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, controllers, etc.).

  • Proficiency with EE tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.) as well as lab experience is an advantage as we work practically and theoretically.

  • Using simulation tools for electrical circuits, e.g., LTspice, is advantageous.

  • Experience with battery or other energy storage systems can be relevant.

We would love to tell you more about our team, our ambitions and the work we do. So please reach out if you are interested in hearing more, even if you are not confident you are the perfect fit. We can figure that out together. To apply or ask questions, please reach out to Victoria (Head of People) via email victoria.morkved@ubiqaerospace.com.
